Richard and Daryl - ready to go !

Richard and Daryl - ready to go !

It has been a very active few weeks at the Club – and today Friday continued to be busy. Brid and Rick are amongst the highest users of our facilities and this is great to see. They were first on the water today. Carl is also getting his regular slots behind the Malibu – and he was joined today by Richard, JoJo, Yuri, Des, Daniel and Geoff. Other bookings were due this evening.

While the great warm water conditions of the past few weeks continued today, we have never seen so many high water levels. It was almost up to the top of our stone bridge this afternoon. This is not doing our Lake banks any good and make sure you keep an eye out for floating debris which may be lifted off the surrounding areas when you are skiing. It looks like the ESB are generating a lot more electricity than usual at the Golden Falls Dam.

Watch out also for the latest WHO SKIS MOST schedule which will be mailed to our Members shortly.

‘So what happened last night on our Lake ?

I wish we had a photo of this ……

Daryl was watching TV at about 10.30pm Рwhen he heard a serious commotion out on the water !  For the next twenty minutes or so, he had a grandstand seat to watch a fierce battle between one of our regular Minks and an Otter. They  chased each other from the Jump Ramp over to the Jetty and back and before they disappeared into the darkness, it was the Otter who was in charge of the show. We have never seen one here before and the Mink pest problem of past years may soon be solved by nature. It would have made a unique photo so we must try to capture that one !

See you at the weekend at the Lake – and don’t worry about missing the Engerland v Germany World Cup mega battle on Sunday as you can take a break from the water and watch it on our own Golden Falls TV.
